JAMMU: An awareness session on the newly enacted criminal laws was organised today at the Revenue Training Institute, Tehsil Jammu West, with a special focus on educating college students. The programme focused on educating officials and citizens about the provisions and implications of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) and Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
The session was attended by students and faculty from Government Degree College Bhagwati Nagar. The event was conducted under the directions of District Magistrate Jammu, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, and featured expert speakers, including SDPO Nagrota, Tehsildar Jammu West Nayeem and legal experts from the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA). They elaborated on key provisions of the three new criminal laws, highlighting their significance in ensuring justice, transparency, and efficiency in legal proceedings.
Approximately 70 to 80 participants benefited from the session. The initiative was well-received, with attendees appreciating the effort to enhance legal awareness, particularly among students.
