JAMMU: The Office of Dean Students’ Welfare at the Central University of Jammu, under the esteemed patronage of Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of the University, in collaboration with Ramkrishna Mission, Jammu, and Vidyarthi Sewa Educational Trust, successfully hosted a series of impactful events today, marking the culmination of Youth Week celebrations. The centerpiece of the week’s festivities was a thought-provoking talk titled “Swami Vivekananda and Youth,” commemorating National Youth Day and inspiring participants with Swami Vivekananda’s enduring vision for youth empowerment.

The keynote address, delivered by Swami Yajnadharananda, Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission, Jammu, captivated attendees with a compelling message centered on the timeless relevance of Swami Vivekananda’s teachings for youth in the present era. The talk encouraged students, faculty, and non-teaching staff to reflect on Vivekananda's powerful message of strength, self-reliance, and service to the nation.

As a part of the celebrations, Ramkrishna Mission also organized a free medical camp for the university community. This initiative emphasized holistic well-being—combining physical, intellectual and spiritual health—and included health check-ups and consultations provided by distinguished medical professionals such as Dr. B.D. Sharma (Ex-Director of Health), Dr. Shakti Kumar (Physician), Dr. Shekhar Sharma (Eye Specialist), and Swami Vijayeshananda, Medical Incharge of the Ramakrishna Mission.

A book stall was also set up by Ramkrishna Mission, featuring literature on Swami Vivekananda’s life and philosophy. The stall provided attendees with an opportunity to delve deeper into his inspiring works and teachings.

The event commenced with a warm welcome to the distinguished guests, followed by a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony and a Pushpanjali (floral tribute) to Swami Vivekananda. In addition to honoring Swami Vivekananda, homage was also paid to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on the eve of Parakram Diwas. His courage, patriotism, and selfless dedication to India’s freedom were celebrated, drawing attention to the shared values of resilience, perseverance, and service exemplified by both Vivekananda and Bose.

Prof. Ritu Bakshi, Dean of Students Welfare at Central University of Jammu, delivered the welcome address, stressing the importance of unity, dedication, and value-based education for the youth. Prof. Ashwini Kumar Nanda, Dean of the School of Social Sciences and Humanities, highlighted the critical role of youth empowerment and education in shaping a brighter future. Sanak Srivats, Secretary of ABVP, J&K, delivered an inspiring speech on the transformative role of youth in driving societal progress and urged students to actively engage in community development and leadership.

The program successfully brought together students, faculty, and staff in a shared celebration of Swami Vivekananda’s vision, underscoring the significance of youth in building a more progressive, resilient, and united society.
