JAMMU: BJP MLA Rajiv Jasrotia from Jasrota today reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening grassroots infrastructure and expanding public welfare facilities in rural areas by inaugurating the newly constructed Ayushman Arogya Mandir at Thakurpura in Panchayat Chandwan. The modern healthcare facility has been built at an estimated cost of ₹1.3 crore and is expected to significantly improve access to primary healthcare services for the residents of Chandwan and adjoining villages.
The Ayushman Arogya Mandir aims to serve as a comprehensive health and wellness centre, providing essential medical services, preventive healthcare, maternal and child health care, immunization and basic diagnostic facilities closer to the doorsteps of rural populations. The initiative is in line with the government’s vision of strengthening the primary healthcare network and ensuring affordable and quality medical care for all.
On the occasion, the MLA also inaugurated a series of important developmental works in Panchayat Chandwan aimed at improving civic infrastructure and basic amenities in the area. These included the installation of two new power transformers to strengthen electricity supply and the construction of three lane drains and public platforms, executed at an estimated cost of ₹25 lakh. These works are expected to address long-standing issues related to power fluctuations, drainage and public convenience in the locality.
Speaking at a well-attended public meeting organized after the inauguration ceremony, Rajiv Jasrotia said that he remains committed to ensuring balanced and inclusive development in every village and every panchayat. He emphasized that improving healthcare facilities in rural areas is a major priority, as timely and accessible medical services play a crucial role in enhancing the overall quality of life of people.
He stated that the Ayushman Arogya Mandir will not only provide routine healthcare services but will also promote preventive healthcare and awareness among the local population. “Healthcare facilities at the grassroots level are essential for building a healthy society. This centre will greatly benefit the people of Chandwan and nearby areas by providing quality medical services without the need to travel long distances,” the MLA said.
Highlighting development agenda, Jasrotia remarked that the focus remains on strengthening basic infrastructure such as healthcare, electricity, sanitation and roads so that rural communities receive the same level of facilities as urban areas. He said that the installation of new transformers will help stabilize power supply and reduce voltage fluctuations, thereby providing relief to residents who have long faced electricity-related issues.
The MLA further noted that the construction of lane drains and platforms will significantly improve sanitation conditions in the area and make movement easier for residents, especially during the rainy season. He said that such works play an important role in improving overall living standards in villages.During the public interaction programme, Jasrotia also listened patiently to the grievances and demands raised by local residents. Villagers highlighted several issues concerning local infrastructure and public services. Officials from the concerned departments were present at the meeting and were directed by the MLA to take immediate note of the grievances and ensure their timely resolution.
Emphasizing the importance of participatory governance, Jasrotia said that direct interaction with the people helps in understanding their genuine concerns and ensures that development works are carried out according to the needs of the community. He urged the officials to maintain regular coordination with local representatives and ensure transparency and efficiency in the implementation of government schemes.
The MLA reiterated that he is committed to working with dedication to accelerate the pace of development in rural areas through better infrastructure, improved public services and effective delivery of welfare schemes.
