SRINAGAR: Police in Shopian organised One day training-cum-workshop on implementation and investigation of new Criminal Laws, UA(P)A & NDPS cases at DPO Shopian. The workshop/programme was conducted under the supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police Shopian Shri. Anayat Ali Chowdhary-IPS and attended by all GOs of District Police Shopian including Sr. Prosecuting Officer DPO Shopian/Awantipora, all SHOs, incharge Police Posts and investigating officers of UA(P)A & NDPS cases, CCTNS operators.
In his inaugural speech, SSP Shopian highlighted the objective of this workshop and underscored its importance to enhance and hone up investigative skills of officers and various SOPs issued from time to time to be adopted while investigating UA(P)A & NDPS Act cases. During the work shop case studies on various conviction as well as acquittals cases were discussed at length.
The Sr. PO DPO Shopian & Sr. PO DPO Awantipora also delivered detailed briefings on various aspects of NDPS/ UA(P)A Act and related laws and procedures to all GOs, SHOs, IC PPs, IOs of Shopian police. Moreover, Senior Prosecuting Officers have provided in-depth insights on New Criminal Laws. A question-and-answer session was held, where Investigating officers posed questions and received guidance from the senior prosecuting officers.
At the conclusion, SSP Shopian expressed hope that all the officers and IOs investigating the UA(P)A & NDPS cases will put in all efforts to investigate cases in a highly professional manner. At the end of the workshop Senior Prosecuting Officers were honoured with mementos by SSP Shopian.
- Police books notorious drug peddler under PIT-NDPS Act in Shopian
SRINAGAR: Police in Shopian booked a notorious drug peddler under Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (PIT NDPS) after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority.
The notorious drug peddler namely Manzoor Ahmad Reshi son of Ab Rasheed Reshi resident of Wachi Reshi Mohalla Shopian has been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority, subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kothbalwal Jammu.
The aforementioned drug peddler is a habitual offender, involved in Case FIR No. 08/2023 of Police Station Bijbehara & 36/2023 of Police Station Zainapora. Despite having been bound down under preventive measures repeatedly, Manzoor Reshi persisted with his involvement in illegal drug trafficking, posing a grave threat to the society, especially the youth.
Known for his notoriety as a chronic miscreant and drug peddler, the accused person has been actively engaged in illegal drug trafficking and creating public nuisances. He is a key figure in the narcotics trade, procuring drugs from various sources and selling them at higher prices, primarily targeting the youth of Zainapora.
This decisive action by Police demonstrates its unwavering commitment to combating the drug menace and protecting society. The tenacious efforts of J&K Police will persist against drug peddlers and their illicit network with full might of law to ensure a safer and drug-free environment for the community.
- Police arrests 2 drug peddlers in Baramulla, Handwara; Contraband substances recovered
SRINAGAR: Continuing its relentless drive against the menace of drugs, police have arrested 2 drug peddlers in Baramulla & Handwara and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police party of Police Station Boniyar headed by SHO PS Boniyar at a checkpoint established at Hundi Nowshera intercepted one suspicious person. During search, 10 grams of Heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Malik Sajad son of Nazir Ahmad resident of Pandithpora. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Similarly in Handwara, a police party at a checkpoint established at Qalamabad Chowk, intercepted a suspicious person. During search, 25 grams of contraband Charas-like substances was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and has been identified as Javid Ahmad War son of Gh Nabi War resident of Lach Mawar.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation have been initiated. Police urge the public to cooperate in the fight against drug abuse. Any suspicious activities related to drugs or other crimes can be reported to the nearest police station or by dialling 112. The police remain committed to taking strict legal action against offenders and ensuring a drug-free society.
- Police facilitates Police Community Partnership Group (PCPG) meeting in Kulgam
SRINAGAR: In its ongoing process to address the grievances of general public and to identify issues and collaboratively develop solutions that improve police community relation, improve public safety by strengthening trust, police in Kulgam facilitated PCPG meeting at village Samnoo Nehama, DH Pora. The meeting was chaired by DySP PC Manzgam Shri Rohit Gupta-JKPS and was attended by respectables of Nehama, Adijan, Samnoo, and other adjacent areas.
While speaking on the occasion, participants appreciated the process of organising such events by police department in which an opportunity is being provided to highlight the prevailing issues of the society like drug abuse, domestic violence, speedy justice etc and seeks their redressal for the betterment of all. The officer present at the meeting gave patient hearing to their issues and assured them that their issues which are pertaining to other departments will be taken up immediately with the concerned officers for appropriate action besides issues related to Police will be resolved on priority.
While addressing the participants, chairing officer urged upon in strengthening the Police public relations and also cooperate in eradicating all types of crime from the society so that a peaceful and crime free atmosphere is created in these areas. The officer have also requested upon providing the information to police about smuggling of drugs and other illegal activities if any noticed for initiating appropriate action against the offenders.
