AWANTIPORA: Leading up to the Earth Day celebrations, the Department of Geomatics, Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), organised a painting competition on the theme “Our Power, Our Planet,” sponsored by the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India. The event aimed to promote environmental awareness and encourage creative engagement with issues of sustainability, climate action, and planetary well-being.
Students from various schools and educational institutions participated enthusiastically, using art to convey compelling messages on environmental conservation. The competition served as a vibrant platform for young minds to reflect on their role in protecting the planet and to express their ideas in alignment with the spirit of Earth Day. To ensure inclusive participation, the competition was organised across three categories—Inter-University, Primary Level, and Specially-Abled Students, each witnessing thoughtful and imaginative interpretations of the theme.
