AWANTIPORA: The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) has achieved a significant milestone in its academic journey by recording its highest-ever annual admissions in 2026, with over 2000 students admitted across its 100 academic programmes.

This represents an increase of around 10 percent over the admissions recorded in 2025, reflecting the continued growth of the University and its expanding contribution to the higher education landscape of Jammu and Kashmir.

Notably, the university has achieved its highest-ever annual admission tally even as the admission process for the B.Tech. programmes for working professionals remains ongoing. The eventual enrolment for the 2026 academic session may therefore rise further, underscoring the continued expansion of academic opportunities at IUST. The university has recorded an overall seat occupancy of approximately 91.7 percent.

IUST has recorded a great surge in admissions in last five years with addition of new programmes. Since 2022 admissions in the university have doubled with more than 100 percent increase in programme offerings and the same has been achieved under visionary leadership of the honourable Vice Chancellor, Prof. Shakil Ahmad Ramshoo.

“Increase in admissions across programmes is a testimony to the hard work of IUST faculty,” saidProf. Sheikh Ajaz Bashir, Dean Academic Affairs, IUST. He congratulated all stakeholders for this stellar performance and expressed his commitment towards academic excellence at the university.

The academic offerings of IUST include programmes in Engineering, Sciences,Architecture,Humanities, Social Sciences, Management, Computer applications, Food Technology, Nursing and Paramedical Sciences, alongside emerging areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Geospatial Technologies, Robotics and Automation. This academic diversity provides students with opportunities to pursue a broad range of educational and professional pathways.
