SHOPIAN: Police in Shopian conducted training programmes at Police Stations and Police Posts across the district with technical assistance from the Resource Person (District Rollout Manager NIC Shopian) to sensitise police personnel about their role in the implementation of the schemes, including prompt registration of eligible cases on the portal and timely forwarding of cases to the concerned hospitals for immediate medical assistance, thereby ensuring effective implementation of the PM-RAHAT and Rah-Veer (Good Samaritan) Schemes.
The PM-RAHAT Scheme, approved by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, provides cashless treatment of up to ₹1.5 lakh to eligible road accident victims. Eligible cases are processed within the prescribed timeframe and referred to concerned hospitals for timely medical treatment, ensuring immediate assistance to accident victims. The Rah-Veer (Good Samaritan) Scheme effective from 17 July 2026, encourages members of the public to assist victims of serious road accidents during the crucial Golden Hours and ensure their prompt transportation to the nearest hospital or Trauma Care Centre for timely medical treatment.
Under the scheme, every eligible Rah-Veer (Good Samaritan) who renders immediate assistance to a victim of a serious road accident, in accordance with the provisions of the scheme, is eligible for a cash reward of ₹25,000/- along with a Certificate of Appreciation. The scheme also provides legal protection to Good Samaritans under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and the rules framed thereunder. J&K Police appeals to the general public to come forward voluntarily as Rah-Veers (Good Samaritans) assist road accident victims during the Golden Hours and help save precious human lives.
