BARAMULLA: The Baramulla Working Journalists Association (BWJA) has taken serious note of attempts by certain vested interests to misuse the organisation’s name to establish a parallel platform to serve their own interests.

The BWJA will not permit any individual to misuse its name or engage in activities that could tarnish the organisation’s image and undermine the legacy of a body established decades ago to represent the interests of working journalists.

Founded nearly 25 years ago, the BWJA is an independent and credible body committed to safeguarding the rights, dignity and professional interests of journalists working with local, national and international media.

Despite all odds, BWJA has remained steadfast in upholding journalistic ethics, professional solidarity and accountability. The BWJA will not tolerate any misuse of its name or identity for personal gain, undue influence or intimidation. Anyone engaging in such practices does not represent the Association and must not be recognised as its authorised representative.

Reiterating its commitment to the public and the journalistic profession, the BWJA vowed to uphold professional ethics protect the dignity of working journalists and firmly resist any attempt to misuse the organisation’s name or undermine its credibility.

The Association called upon all members of the media fraternity to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and urged the public to distinguish between genuine journalists and individuals who may seek to exploit the credibility associated with journalism.

In order to uphold professional continuity and strengthen the organisation, the BWJA will hold the elections for the posts of President and General Secretary shortly, following the expiry of the current office-bearers’ tenure, in accordance with the Association’s constitution and established norms.
