JAMMU: In a significant development for the private education sector of the region, the Jammu & Kashmir Private Schools Coordination Committee (JKPSCC) held a high-level executive meeting at Udhampur. The meeting was conducted under the leadership of Rameshwar Manhas, President, and Dr. Hari Dutt Shishu, Working President, with the active participation of all District Presidents of the Jammu division.
During the extensive deliberations, the core committee unanimously resolved to organize a massive 4th State-Level Conference of Private Schools in Jammu, scheduled to take place in the month of November 2026. This mega-conference aims to serve as a collaborative platform bringing together educational administrators, policy makers, school promoters, and academic stakeholders to address the evolving landscape of private education and pave a sustainable path forward.
Addressing the gathering, JKPSCC President Rameshwar Manhas highlighted the vital contributions of private institutions in elevating literacy rates and delivering quality education even in the remotest corners of the region. He emphasized that despite their monumental role as nation-builders, private schools continue to face complex administrative hurdles, including delayed affiliation processes, cumbersome NOC requirements, and rigid regulatory frameworks. "The upcoming State-Level Conference will be a milestone event to project our collective voice and seek a streamlined, single-window clearance mechanism from the government to secure the survival and growth of budget private schools," Manhas stated.
Working President Dr. Hari Dutt Shishu underscored the critical need for a constructive dialogue between the school fraternity and the administrative authorities. He observed that transition in recognition protocols has inadvertently led to operational delays and policy bottlenecks, putting undue stress on school managements. "Our November conference will not only showcase the immense contribution of private schools to the social fabric but will also focus on building an equitable system where policy directives are collaborative rather than punitive," Dr. Shishu added.
The meeting saw intensive inputs from all District Presidents of the Jammu division, who briefed the leadership on district-specific challenges, including infrastructure norms, fee fixation anomalies, and local administrative delays. The district leaders pledged their absolute support to ensure unprecedented mobilization for the upcoming November conference.
A dedicated organizing sub-committee will be constituted in the coming days to finalize the venue, guest list, and specific thematic tracks for the state-level event. The JKPSCC has extended an open invitation to all private school owners, policy makers, and educational thinkers across J&K to join hands and make the convention a historic success.
Prominent among those present in the meeting included Sanjeet Sharma Gen. Secretary and Ex-Chairman BDC, Mineesh Ghulati, an eminent educationist, Manender Bawa, Bhagwan Dass Udhampur, Ajay Amla, Vikrant Sharma, GS Katal, Yog Raj, Sat Paul Badyal, Mahipal Sharma, Pitambar Singh and Rajan Gupta.
