The Survival Fight of JK Monitor: For 16 years, JK Monitor has chronicled Jammu and Kashmir with integrity. Since 2010, I have steered its newsroom alongside our visionary Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan (IIT Kharagpur alumnus, University of Maryland Ph.D.). His tragic demise in October 2026 left a severe financial and operational vacuum. Without urgent support, our 24/7 news portal risks permanently shutting down after November 2026, remaining only as a static digital archive. We appeal to well-wishers to extend a helping hand to keep our active newsroom alive. Support Us: WhatsApp: +91-9906103001 | Email: journalistajmerwani@gmail.com

KISHTWAR: The District Administration Kishtwar, in collaboration with the District Employment & Counselling Centre (DE&CC) and the Zila Sainik Welfare Board, organised a special district-level ‘Udyam Jagriti 5.0’ awareness programme for Ex-Servicemen to acquaint them to the self-employment opportunities available under Mission YUVA.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Pawan Kotwal was the chief guest at the programme aimed at encouraging former armed forces personnel to explore self-employment and entrepreneurship opportunities under the Mission Yuva and other government schemes by leveraging their technical expertise, leadership qualities, discipline and experience acquired during their service in the armed forces.

The officers and resource persons delivered detailed awareness sessions on the objectives, provisions and benefits of Mission YUVA, particularly highlighting financial assistance, subsidy structure, credit linkages, eligibility criteria and application procedures available to aspiring entrepreneurs.

The participants were sensitised to the provision of support for Nano Enterprises, New MSMEs and Existing Enterprises expansion offered under Mission YUVA. A detailed overview of entitled activities and the district-specific activity roster was also shared to help participants identify viable and sustainable business opportunities based on local market demand and their individual capabilities.

Special emphasis was laid on developing effective marketing strategies, market research, customer outreach, branding and digital marketing to ensure the long-term sustainability and growth of enterprises. Participants were encouraged to adopt innovative business practices and explore emerging market opportunities.

The resource persons also highlighted the facilitation mechanism available through the Business Help Desk (BHD), Small Business Development Units (SBDUs) and YUVA Doots/Motivators, which provide handholding support to beneficiaries in business plan preparation, documentation, registration, financial linkages and establishment of enterprises.

Addressing the gathering, the ADC encouraged Ex-Servicemen to utilise their post-service experience, skills and entrepreneurial potential to become self-reliant job creators rather than job seekers. He emphasised that Mission YUVA offers an important platform for transforming their skills and aspirations into successful business ventures, thereby contributing to local employment generation and economic development.

The programme concluded with an interactive session during which participants raised queries regarding scheme benefits, project proposals, bank financing and potential business opportunities.

The SBDU team assured interested beneficiaries of all possible guidance and facilitation, reaffirming the commitment of the DE&CC Kishtwar towards promoting entrepreneurship, self-employment and inclusive economic development under Mission YUVA.

The programme was organised under the guidance of Assistant Director Employment Amit Kumar. The programme was attended by Retd. Wing Commander Tirath Nath; Employment Officer Vinod Shant, members of the SBDU team, Ex-Servicemen and other stakeholders.
