The Survival Fight of JK Monitor: For 16 years, JK Monitor has chronicled Jammu and Kashmir with integrity. Since 2010, I have steered its newsroom alongside our visionary Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan (IIT Kharagpur alumnus, University of Maryland Ph.D.). His tragic demise in October 2026 left a severe financial and operational vacuum. Without urgent support, our 24/7 news portal risks permanently shutting down after November 2026, remaining only as a static digital archive. We appeal to well-wishers to extend a helping hand to keep our active newsroom alive. Support Us: WhatsApp: +91-9906103001 | Email: journalistajmerwani@gmail.com

KUPWARA: In a good step towards strengthening institutional coordination and enhancing the overall functioning of private educational institutions, the Kupwara Private Schools Association formally constituted its Interim District Body during a meeting held at Kupwara Model School, Gushie. Lolabi, Chairman, Welfare School Sogam, as District Vice President; Manzoor Ahmad Kumar, Chairman, Ibni Sena School, as Treasurer.

In addition, Zonal Executive Members were nominated to ensure effective coordination and grassroots representation across various educational zones: Reyaz Ahmad Baba (Zone Drugmulla), Ms. Tabassum Farooq (Zone Kupwara), Akhtar Salafi (Zone Lolab), Farooq Ahmad Wani (Zone Trehgam), Javeed Ahmad (Zone Vilgam), Mushtaq Ahmad Lone (Zone Handwara), Parvaiz Ahmad Bhat (Zone Langate), and Mufti Gh Hassan Dar (Zone Rajwar).

During the deliberations, members raised key concerns regarding communication gaps within the association and stressed that all processes particularly those related to representation and elections must adhere strictly to principles of transparency, inclusiveness and democratic integrity.  The Interim District Body reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the interests of all private schools in Kupwara and ensuring active participation of member institutions in decision-making processes.

Mushtaq Shaheen Bhat said “This interim structure is a step towards building a more transparent, inclusive and accountable framework for private education in Kupwara. Our priority is to ensure that every institution is heard and represented fairly".  To further strengthen coordination and engagement at the grassroots level, members of the body will undertake visits to all affiliated schools across different zones in the coming days to interact directly with stakeholders and address their concerns.

The Association has appealed to all members to maintain unity and cooperation during this transitional phase, emphasizing the collective responsibility to build a strong, fair and representative institutional structure for the advancement of private education in the district.
