THE SILENCE OF A NEWSROOM: THE SURVIVAL FIGHT OF JK MONITOR: For sixteen years, JK Monitor has stood as an unwavering digital chronicle of Jammu and Kashmir—giving voice to the voiceless, highlighting grassroots triumphs, and upholding journalistic integrity. Since 2010, I have steered its operations as Editor-in-Chief. Yet, behind every headline stood our visionary Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan. A VISIONARY BLUEPRINT & MENTOR : Dr. Ranjan was an intellectual powerhouse—an alumnus of Netarhat, an IIT Kharagpur engineer, and a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland. He founded JK Monitor not for clickbait, but to empower communities through authentic public discourse. He embraced me as a younger brother with warmth, trust, and continuous mentorship, guiding us through complex regional landscapes. OCTOBER 2026: A SUDDEN SILENCE: Our bedrock shifted irrevocably in October 2026 with Dr. Ranjan's sudden, tragic demise. For a real-time news portal, losing its visionary architect was catastrophic. Overnight, our newsroom lost its heartbeat, and the financial vacuum brought daily operations to an agonizing standstill. A LEGACY HANGING BY A THREAD: Today, we face a critical crossroads. Struggling to cover basic operational costs, our 24/7 live news service risks becoming merely a static digital archive—a frozen library paying tribute to Dr. Ranjan. Beyond November 2026, active real-time reporting may cease entirely. A RAY OF HOPE: We extend an urgent appeal to our readers, patrons, and well-wishers to step forward. Your support can keep our daily newsroom intact, vibrant, and alive. Otherwise, this hard-earned legacy will remain frozen in time while our living news outlet falls permanently silent. RAJOURI: In a significant move to check traffic violations and enhance passenger safety, the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) Rajouri, in coordination with the Jammu & Kashmir Police, today carried out a joint naka near District Police Lines. The operation resulted in the challaning and seizure of more than 20 e-autos for various violations.

The drive was conducted under the supervision of ARTO Rajesh Gupta with the active involvement of the SHO and teams from both the Police and Motor Vehicle Department, including inspectors and sub-inspectors. During the enforcement drive, action was taken against e-auto operators found plying without valid documents, driving without licenses and operating outside their authorized routes. Several vehicles entering Rajouri from other tehsils and operating unlawfully were also seized.

The teams also acted against e-autos fitted with additional seating and unauthorized sound systems, which were found to be in violation of transport regulations. Officials noted that such illegal practices not only contravene the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act but also endanger passenger safety and contribute to traffic congestion in the town.

While interacting with media persons, the ARTO stated that the department has been consistently receiving complaints regarding unauthorized operations of e-autos, particularly those arriving from outside tehsils. He emphasized that strict enforcement will continue in the coming days to ensure compliance with traffic norms and to facilitate safe and orderly movement of traffic. The authorities cautioned all e-auto operators to strictly adhere to the rules and regulations, warning that any violation will invite stringent legal action.
