JAMMU: MLA Kishtwar Shagun Parihar, today strongly raised several critical and long-pending issues concerning the people of Kishtwar in the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly, questioning the Government’s continued inaction and lack of urgency towards the genuine demands of the district.
Speaking in the Assembly, MLA Shagun Parihar raised the long-pending issue of road connectivity to Kuntwara, highlighting the hardships being faced by the residents of the far-flung area due to the absence of proper motorable road connectivity. She stated that the issue has been repeatedly brought to the notice of the Government and concerned departments, besides submitting necessary representations, yet the people continue to wait for concrete action.
She questioned the Government on how long the people of Kuntwara will be made to wait for basic road connectivity, stressing that connectivity to remote areas is not merely a developmental requirement but a basic necessity for access to education, healthcare, livelihood opportunities and other essential services.
She also raised the serious water crisis prevailing across Kishtwar district, expressing concern that several villages continue to face acute shortages of drinking water. She specifically demanded the sanction and early implementation of the proposed Water Lift Scheme, stating that the people cannot be made to suffer indefinitely while proposals remain pending with the Government.
She further highlighted that several other important issues concerning Kishtwar remain pending despite her repeated representations and continuous communication with Ministers and concerned departments. She sought a time-bound response and concrete action rather than assurances or procedural delays.
Taking a firm stand on the matter, MLA Shagun Parihar demanded that the Government take decisive action on the Kuntwara road connectivity issue and the prevailing water crisis in Kishtwar before the next Assembly session.
She made it clear that if the Government fails to act on these genuine public demands within the stipulated period, she will be compelled to sit on a dharna outside the Chief Minister’s residence, seeking justice, accountability and immediate action for the people of Kishtwar.
MLA Shagun Parihar reiterated that she will continue to raise the voice of the people of Kishtwar on every appropriate platform and will pursue these issues until concrete action is taken on the ground.
