SHOPIAN: Continuing its efforts to ensure public health and hygiene, Police in Shopian, in collaboration with the Food Safety Department, conducted a surprise market checking drive in various areas of the district.

During the inspection, meat shopkeepers, fish sellers, dhaba owners, fruit and vegetable vendors were checked to ensure compliance with food safety norms. The inspection revealed that no shopkeeper was found storing perishable items for long durations. All shopkeepers were sensitized and directed to strictly adhere to food safety guidelines, particularly concerning the storage and handling of perishable items such as meat and fish, to prevent contamination and ensure safe food for consumers.

The drive was aimed at maintaining public health, hygiene and consumer safety and such inspections will continue in the future as part of the joint efforts of Police and Food Safety authorities. Police appeals general public to report any violation or malpractice.
