KATHUA: As part of the week-long Seva Parv 2026 being observed from September 28 to October 2, a series of community-oriented activities were organised in different parts of Kathua district, reflecting the spirit of service, public participation and collective responsibility.
As part of the celebrations, the Health Department organised free medical camps at different locations in Basohli and Bani, providing health screening, medical consultation and necessary healthcare services to the people. The camps aimed at taking essential healthcare services closer to the community and promoting preventive healthcare.
A free medical camp was also organised at the RTO Office, Lakhanpur, on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma. During the camp, 80 individuals were screened, while necessary diagnostic tests were conducted and medicines were provided to beneficiaries as per their medical requirements. The participants were also given appropriate medical advice and guidance.
Meanwhile, the JKPCC Kathua conducted an awareness drive against banned polythene and single-use plastic in the market areas of Sanjimore. During the drive, the public was sensitised to the harmful environmental impact of banned polythene and single-use plastic and encouraged to adopt eco-friendly alternatives. Around 9 kg banned polythene (below 120 microns) and 500 grams of single-use plastic were seized during the drive.
In another initiative, a Book Donation Camp was organised at the Zonal Education Office- Hiranagar to promote the spirit of service, social responsibility and community participation, besides encouraging reading and knowledge-sharing. Officers and officials participated in the initiative and donated books, which will help facilitate wider access to educational resources among students and members of the community.
The activities organised under Seva Parv underscore the commitment of the district administration towards promoting health, cleanliness, environmental responsibility, education and community welfare through active public participation.
The district administration Kathua has called upon citizens, particularly youth, to participate enthusiastically in the various Seva Parv activities and contribute towards building a cleaner, healthier, educated and socially responsible society.
