JAMMU: Expressing deep anguish and concern over the increasing incidents of kidnapping, rape, and brutal murder of young girls across the country, the World Women Awakening Organisation (WWAO), Jammu Chapter, submitted a memorandum to Ms. Ansuya Jamwal, Additional District Magistrate, Jammu, urging the Government of India to take stringent and time-bound action against perpetrators of such heinous crimes.
The memorandum, signed by Mrs. Veenu Khanna, President, WWAO Jammu Chapter, calls for swift justice, the strictest punishment permissible under law, and stronger measures to ensure the safety and security of women and young girls. The organisation also requested that the memorandum be forwarded to the President of India, Prime Minister of India, Union Home Minister, and other concerned authorities for immediate consideration.
The memorandum emphasizes that crimes against women and children are a matter of grave national concern and that delays in the judicial process weaken public confidence in the justice system. It urges the authorities to ensure speedy investigation, conduct trials through Fast-Track Courts, and strengthen preventive and security measures at both the Central and State levels.
Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Veenu Khanna, President, WWAO Jammu Chapter, said: “Every daughter has the fundamental right to live with dignity, freedom, and security. The increasing brutality against innocent girls is a matter of deep concern for the entire nation. We strongly urge that those guilty of such inhuman crimes receive the strictest punishment under the law so that justice is not only delivered but also serves as a powerful deterrent against future offences.”
The WWAO delegation appreciated the positive and compassionate approach of Ms. Ansuya Jamwal, Additional District Magistrate, Jammu, towards issues concerning the safety and welfare of women. The organisation acknowledged her patient hearing of the delegation and her assurance that the memorandum would be forwarded to the appropriate authorities. The members also commended her continued commitment to strengthening initiatives that contribute to a safer, more inclusive, and progressive society where women and girls can live with dignity and security.
The delegation comprised Mrs. Renu Gupta (National Vice President, WWAO), Mrs. Veenu Khanna (President, WWAO Jammu Chapter), Mrs. Veena Honda (Vice-President, WWAO Jammu Chapter), Mrs. Shashi Kala (Treasurer, WWAO Jammu Chapter), and other team members Mrs. Anu Bali, Mrs. Anu Gupta, and Mrs. Anu Mahajan, who collectively expressed solidarity with the victims and their families while reaffirming WWAO’s unwavering commitment to women’s safety, dignity, and empowerment.
The World Women Awakening Organisation urged all stakeholders—including governments, law enforcement agencies, judicial institutions, and civil society—to work together to create a safe and secure environment where every woman and girl can live without fear.
