SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha today released “Zarf Zargar” and “Exploring Vimal's Rahi”, the translated books of the original works of prominent poets Ahad Zargar and Rehman Rahi, by Mushtaque B. Barq, at Raj Bhawan.

The Lt Governor congratulated Sh Mushtaque Barq and all those associated with the publications. He lauded the efforts to carry forward the rich legacy of the great poets like Ahad Zargar and Rehman Rahi through translation of their illustrious literary works.

The book "Zarf Zargar" released today by the Lt Governor is the anthology of selected Sufi poems by prominent poet of Kashmir Ahad Zargar, translated into English by Mushtaque B. Barq.

“Exploring Vimal's Rahi” represents the English translation of Jnanpith Award Recipient Rehman Rahi's poems, initially translated into Urdu by Dr Satish Vimal. Sh Mushtaque B. Barq; Dr Satish Vimal; Sh Khurshid Ahad Zargar, son of the poet Ahad Zargar, and Sh Sheikh Mohammad Waseem, publisher of the anthologies were present on the occasion.

Dr. Ranjan was a rare and noble soul—humble, compassionate, intellectually brilliant and always willing to help others. A visionary thinker, he believed in using knowledge and abilities to make a meaningful difference. His influence lives on through the people he guided, the work he inspired and the countless lives he touched.

For me, he will always be the elder brother who believed in me and guided me with affection. I will cherish his kindness and lessons forever. May his soul rest in eternal peace. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

A brilliant mind who studied at Netarhat Residential School and graduated in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur before earning his PhD from the University of Maryland, Dr. Ranjan chose to return to India and dedicate his life to teaching, research and social good.

His pioneering work in networked systems, AI, robotics and biomedical applications—especially computer-vision tools for early detection of cancer and heart disease—reflected his deep belief that advanced technology must serve humanity.

For more than 15 years at JK Monitor, he remained a loyal friend, mentor and collaborator, marked by rare humility, intellectual integrity and quiet generosity. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled. Priya, you will be deeply missed. Your life continues to remind us that knowledge finds its highest purpose in the service of others.
