NEW DELHI: J&K BJP President and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Sat Sharma called on the Vice-President of India C. P. Radhakrishnan and held a detailed discussion on the socio-political, security, democratic, and developmental issues in Jammu & Kashmir.

During the interaction, Sat Sharma apprised the Vice-President about the ground-level transformation taking place across Jammu & Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A and highlighted the need to sustain the present momentum of peace, development, democratic participation, and institutional strengthening in the Union Territory.

Sat Sharma informed the Vice-President that the people of Jammu & Kashmir are witnessing, for the first time in decades, the benefits of direct implementation of Central welfare schemes without political discrimination or middlemen. He said that schemes related to housing, healthcare, rural infrastructure, social security, self-employment, and education are reaching remote and border areas at an unprecedented pace.

Sharma further emphasized the strategic importance of accelerating infrastructure and connectivity projects in border districts to strengthen economic integration, tourism potential, disaster response capability, and national security preparedness. He also raised the need for continued institutional support for youth skill development, startup promotion, sports infrastructure, and employment-oriented initiatives to channel the energy of the younger generation towards nation-building activities.

Sat Sharma cited rapid expansion of the national highway network, completion of long-pending road and tunnel projects, strengthening of railway connectivity linking Kashmir with the rest of India, record tourist arrivals, new industrial investment proposals, expansion of AIIMS, IIT, IIM and medical colleges, and improved grassroots governance through Panchayati Raj institutions.

Sat Sharma also briefed the Vice-President about the strengthening of democratic institutions in Jammu & Kashmir through transparent electoral processes, increased participation in local governance, and the need to further strengthen the three-tier democratic system in J&K. Sat Sharma extended a formal invitation to the Vice-President to visit Jammu & Kashmir and witness firsthand the infrastructural progress, improving public confidence, and growing aspirations of the people towards peace, prosperity, and national progress.
