The Survival Fight of JK Monitor : For 16 years, JK Monitor has chronicled Jammu and Kashmir with integrity. Since 2010, I have steered its newsroom alongside our visionary Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan (IIT Kharagpur alumnus, University of Maryland Ph.D.), who treated me like a brother and mentor. His tragic demise in October 2026 left a severe financial and operational vacuum. Without urgent support, our 24/7 news portal risks permanently shutting down after November 2026, remaining only as a static digital archive. We appeal to well-wishers to extend a helping hand to keep our active newsroom alive. Support Us: WhatsApp: +91-9906103001 | Email: journalistajmerwani@gmail.com

JAMMU: Building upon the foundation laid during my selection for ISRO's YUVIKA program in 2024, I am proud to share a major milestone from my academic journey earlier this year. In May 2026, I had the privilege of representing PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Miran Sahib and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on the national stage at the prestigious Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM) examination.

My path to the finals began at the J&K State Level Camp hosted at CSIR-IIIM Jammu, where I secured the First Rank in the Jammu & Kashmir Union Territory. This achievement earned me the honor of competing against talented young minds from across India at the VVM National Level Camp, held at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

The scale of the evaluation was immense, with more than 5 lakh students applying nationwide for the initial round, out of which only the top 500 qualifiers advanced to the national finals. Competing alongside these dedicated peers in Gujarat, I was incredibly grateful to have secured the 3rd Rank in the North Zone in the final VVM National Level examination.

In recognition of this performance, I was honored with a certificate, a trophy, a cash prize, and a monumental academic opportunity: the prestigious SRIJAN Internship. This research program was subsequently conducted in August 2026 at NITTTR Bhopal, running in direct association with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

These consecutive milestones have further deepened my passion for science, innovation, and space research. Looking back at this rewarding experience, I hope my journey highlights the growing academic potential of our region and shows my fellow students in Jammu & Kashmir that sustained dedication can pave the way to the highest national research platforms.

A Profound Loss: JK Monitor Mourns the Passing of Founding Chairman Dr. Priya Ranjan

We at JK Monitor are profoundly saddened by the sudden demise of our Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan.IN LOVING MEMORY Dr Priya Ranjan

A brilliant mind who studied at Netarhat Residential School and graduated in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur before earning his PhD from the University of Maryland, Dr. Ranjan chose to return to India and dedicate his life to teaching, research and social good.

His pioneering work in networked systems, AI, robotics and biomedical applications—especially computer-vision tools for early detection of cancer and heart disease—reflected his deep belief that advanced technology must serve humanity.

For more than 15 years at JK Monitor, he remained a loyal friend, mentor and collaborator, marked by rare humility, intellectual integrity and quiet generosity. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled. Priya, you will be deeply missed. Your life continues to remind us that knowledge finds its highest purpose in the service of others.
