HANDWARA: In a significant crackdown on illegal mining activities, Police have seized ten (10) vehicles engaged in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Police District (PD) Handwara.

Acting on specific inputs, police teams led by SHO Police Station Handwara & I/C PP Langate along with Geology and Mining Department seized 10 vehicles (10 tractors), involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.

The vehicles have been challaned under the relevant sections of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act (MMRD Act), and legal proceedings have been initiated against the vehicle owners and drivers. Police urged the public to remain vigilant and report any such illegal activities by dialing 112. They assured that strict legal action would be taken against those violating mining regulations.
