The Survival Fight of JK Monitor: For 16 years, JK Monitor has chronicled Jammu and Kashmir with integrity. Since 2010, I have steered its newsroom alongside our visionary Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan (IIT Kharagpur alumnus, University of Maryland Ph.D.). His tragic demise in October 2026 left a severe financial and operational vacuum. Without urgent support, our 24/7 news portal risks permanently shutting down after November 2026, remaining only as a static digital archive. We appeal to well-wishers to extend a helping hand to keep our active newsroom alive. Support Us: WhatsApp: +91-9906103001 | Email: journalistajmerwani@gmail.com
  • Reviews ongoing Works, maintenance of Dal Lake

SRINAGAR:  With a focus on assessing the ground realities and taking a first-hand view of the activities being carried out across Dal Lake, Vice Chairman, JK LCMA, Khurshid Ahmad Shah,  undertook an extensive tour of the lake today, covering the stretch from Dockyard, Nishat, to Hazratbal, including Bod Dal and other important locations.

The Vice Chairman was accompanied by senior officers of the Authority, who briefed him on the status of various ongoing works and field-level activities at different locations during the tour.

During the visit, the Vice Chairman inspected various sites to take stock of the ongoing works and assess the progress of activities being undertaken by the Authority. He also visited the ablution pond and reviewed its condition, maintenance and overall upkeep.

At different locations, he interacted with the concerned officers and field staff, sought updates on the works in progress and discussed operational aspects requiring attention. The visit provided an opportunity to assess the effectiveness of field-level interventions and identify areas requiring further improvement and focused attention.

With winter setting in and Dal Lake assuming its distinctive seasonal charm, the Vice Chairman emphasized the importance of giving renewed attention to the lake's cleanliness, upkeep and aesthetic appeal. He observed that the lake, set against the magnificent winter landscape of Srinagar, offers a breathtaking spectacle and that sustained efforts must be made to preserve and further enhance its beauty. He stressed that all concerned teams should work proactively to ensure that Dal Lake and its surroundings remain clean, well-maintained and welcoming for residents, visitors and tourists throughout the winter months.

The Vice Chairman reiterated that the Authority remains committed to preserving the ecological health of Dal Lake while enhancing its cleanliness, scenic beauty and overall appeal, ensuring that it continues to remain one of Srinagar's most cherished natural landmarks in every season.
