KATHUA: In adherence to the action plan of the J&K State Legal Services Authority, the District Legal Services Authority Kathua, under the guidance of Chairman Jatinder Singh Jamwal (Principal District and Sessions Judge), today organized a legal awareness program on Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) here at the ADR Centre of the District Court complex.

The Secretary DLSA Kamiya Singh Andotra informed the gathering about the PoSH Act, its historical background, the Internal Committee and complaint mechanism and also educated them about conduct amounting to sexual harassment.

The awareness program was attended by Dy. Chief LADC Puneet Kumari, Panel Lawyers, Naiya Sharma and Sumit Jasrotia, police officers/officials of District Police Kathua, and staff and PLVs of DLSA Kathua. The Secretary also informed them that the proceedings before the Internal Committee are confidential and encouraged them to report any such outward incident before the I.C.

Deputy Chief LADC Puneet Kumari and Panel Lawyer Sumit Jasrotia also deliberated upon the subject and created sensitisation about the legal aspect and obligations under the Act.
