DODA: The Red Ribbon Club of Government Degree College Kastigarh today observed International Youth Day with active participation from students and faculty members. The programme was organised under the guidance of Principal of the College Prof. Koshal Kumar Mangotra. A special awareness session was conducted on the theme and significance of International Youth Day, while the occasion also marked the commencement of Special IEC 3.0 activities at the institution.
As part of the initiative, an awareness session was held on HIV/AIDS, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), stigma and discrimination. Nodal Officer Red Ribbon Club Dr. Sumit Kotwal sensitised students to the modes of transmission and prevention of HIV and other STIs, the importance of timely testing and treatment and the need to obtain accurate health information from reliable sources.
Students were encouraged to dispel myths and misconceptions surrounding HIV/AIDS and to reject stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS. The session emphasised the values of empathy, dignity, equality and creating a supportive and informed environment within the community.
The programme also included a cleanliness drive on the college campus to inculcate dignity of labour among students and encourage them to become responsible and conscious citizens. The students and faculty members further participated enthusiastically in the singing of the National Song, Vande Mataram, reaffirming the spirit of patriotism and national unity. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Anupam Lata, Assistant Professor, Psychology.
