Kathua Admin launches Football League under Nasha Mukt Abhiyan

• Inaugural match between Bhallar FC & Hiranagar FC ends in a draw  

KATHUA: The Kathua Football League, an initiative of the District Administration Kathua, under the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, was inaugurated today by Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma here at the Sports Ground Government Degree College.

The league is being organised with the objective of providing youth with a constructive platform to channelise their energy towards sports, fitness and healthy pursuits, while reinforcing the message of a drug-free Kathua.

As many as 12 football teams are participating in the league, providing a competitive platform for local sporting talent. The opening match was played between Bhallar Football Club and Hiranagar Football Club resulting in a thrilling tie with scoreboard 3-3.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma said that sports have a vital role in positively channelising the energy and potential of youth. He emphasised that sustained engagement in sports not only promotes physical fitness but also instils discipline, teamwork and a sense of responsibility among young people.

The DC urged the youth to actively participate in sports and stay away from drugs, stressing that collective efforts by the administration, sporting fraternity and society are essential to building a healthy, empowered and Nasha-Mukt Kathua.

The District Administration Kathua is undertaking a range of youth-centric initiatives under the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan to create greater opportunities for positive engagement and promote a culture of fitness, sports and responsible citizenship. Among others Chief Planning Officer Ranjeet Thakur, District Information Officer Gurpreet Singh and officials of concerned departments were also present.
