BARAMULLA: Zone Pattan emerged victorious in the Inter-Zonal District-Level Football Championship for Under-17 Boys, clinching the coveted title with a 1–0 win over Zone Sopore in the final held today at Showkat Ali Stadium, Khawaja Bagh, Baramulla.
The championship was organised by the Department of Youth Services & Sports, Baramulla, as part of its ongoing efforts to promote sports, nurture young talent and provide competitive platforms to budding athletes.
The final ceremony was graced by Mushtaq Ahmad Pampori, District Youth Services & Sports Officer (DYSSO), Baramulla, who lauded the participating players and officials for their commitment, discipline and sporting spirit. He also presented trophies to the victorious and runner-up teams.
Meanwhile, the Inter-Zonal District-Level Football Competition for Under-19 Boys is scheduled to commence tomorrow at the same venue, with teams from different zones set to compete for the district-level title.
In another sporting event held today, the Inter-Zonal District-Level Handball Competition for Under-14, Under-17 and Under-19 Girls was organised at the Indoor Stadium, Khawaja Bagh. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation of more than 100 girls, reflecting the growing interest and participation of young sportspersons in the district.
