In loving memory of Dr. Priya Ranjan: A mentor who treated me like family

SRINAGAR: In order to make the general public aware about cybercrimes and to reach out to the public, Police in Budgam today organized Cyber Awareness Programme at Police Station Chrar-i-Sharief, Police Station Magam, Police Station Beerwah and Police Post Pakharpora with the aim of educating the public and police personnel about the importance of cyber safety.

The initiative was undertaken to raise awareness about emerging cyber threats, online scams, bank fraud, money laundering cases, identify theft, credit card fraud, data stealing, cyber stalking, pornography, OTP fraud etc and the preventive measures thereof necessary to safeguard personal and organizational data. Public awareness programs were organized in collaboration with local communities, schools and other institutions to educate citizens on safe internet surfing practices and equip them with the knowledge to stay safe in the digital world.

Citizens were encouraged to share their concerns and experiences related to cyber threats and expert advice was provided to address these issues. The event emphasized on the role of the police in ensuring a secure digital environment and encouraged citizens to report cybercrimes without hesitation. This initiative served as a significant step towards bridging the gap between law enforcement agencies and the public in combating cybercrime effectively.
