ANANTNAG: Police in Anantnag organised the Shaheed Humayun Muzamil T-20 Cricket Tournament under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) at Government Degree College (GDC) Anantnag, aimed at promoting sports, discipline, and positive engagement among youth.

The tournament is witnessing participation from eight teams. The inaugural match was played between GDC Anantnag and Royal King Boon, which generated great enthusiasm among players and spectators. GDC Anantnag won the inaugural match convincingly by 52 runs.

The initiative reflects J&K Police’s commitment to encouraging youth towards healthy and constructive activities, strengthening police-public relations, and fostering a spirit of teamwork and sportsmanship.

Police reiterated its resolve to continue organizing such community-oriented and youth-centric programmes under the Civic Action Programme.

Dr. Ranjan was a rare and noble soul—humble, compassionate, intellectually brilliant and always willing to help others. A visionary thinker, he believed in using knowledge and abilities to make a meaningful difference. His influence lives on through the people he guided, the work he inspired and the countless lives he touched.

For me, he will always be the elder brother who believed in me and guided me with affection. I will cherish his kindness and lessons forever. May his soul rest in eternal peace. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

A brilliant mind who studied at Netarhat Residential School and graduated in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur before earning his PhD from the University of Maryland, Dr. Ranjan chose to return to India and dedicate his life to teaching, research and social good.

His pioneering work in networked systems, AI, robotics and biomedical applications—especially computer-vision tools for early detection of cancer and heart disease—reflected his deep belief that advanced technology must serve humanity.

For more than 15 years at JK Monitor, he remained a loyal friend, mentor and collaborator, marked by rare humility, intellectual integrity and quiet generosity. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled. Priya, you will be deeply missed. Your life continues to remind us that knowledge finds its highest purpose in the service of others.
