ANANTNAG: Police in Anantnag organized a Drug Awareness Programme at Police Station Dooru under the Civic Action Programme, aimed at educating the public, especially youth, about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of leading a healthy, drug-free life.

The programme witnessed participation from local residents, youth and community members. Police officers highlighted the social, physical, and psychological consequences of drug addiction and emphasized the role of families and society in preventing substance abuse. Participants were sensitized about early identification of drug abuse, legal consequences under the NDPS Act, and the availability of rehabilitation and de-addiction support.

The officers urged the youth to channel their energy towards constructive activities such as sports, education, and skill development. They also appealed to the general public to cooperate with the police by sharing information related to drug peddling and abuse in their areas. Police reaffirmed its commitment to continue such community-oriented initiatives to create awareness, strengthen police-public relations, and work collectively towards a drug-free society.
