JAMMU: The Indian Institute of Management Jammu continued its Holistic Orientation Programme 2026 with an enriching third day on 15th July 2026 dedicated to broadening global outlooks, fostering entrepreneurial thinking, strengthening industry engagement, and introducing innovative pedagogical approaches. The day offered the incoming students of the 7th Batch of Ph.D., 11th Batch of MBA, 5th Batch of MBA (Healthcare), and the Inaugural Batch of MBA (AI and BA) a unique blend of academic insights, industry wisdom, and institutional orientation.
The day commenced with the daily 'Maximize Happiness and Mindfulness' session conducted by renowned Yoga Guru Shri Sahil Mehra under the aegis of Anandam: The Centre for Happiness, IIM Jammu, encouraging students to cultivate mindfulness, emotional resilience, and holistic well-being as essential qualities for effective leadership.
The day commenced with an insightful session on "International Relations at IIM Jammu" by Dr. Pranjal Pachpore, Chairperson, International Relations, in the presence of Dr. Kavita Yadav, Co-Chairperson, International Relations, and officials from the International Relations Office. Highlighting IIM Jammu's growing global footprint, he showcased the Institute's international collaborations, student exchange programmes, and cross-cultural learning opportunities, encouraging students to embrace a global mindset, cultural diversity, and intercultural competence. The session reaffirmed IIM Jammu's commitment to nurturing globally aware and future-ready management professionals.
The Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) organized a thought-provoking panel discussion featuring Shri Parveen Pargal, Director, Pargal Foods Pvt. Ltd. & National Committee Member, Laghu Udyog Bharti; Er. Annil N. Suri, Chairman, A B Group of Companies; Shri Hasit Singh Sachdev, Proprietor, R.P. Steels; Shri Aagam Jain, Managing Member, Nature Fresh Foods; Shri Aman Sharma, Director, Akhil India Private Limited & Indo Agri Overseas; Shri Akarsh Nargotra, Director, Mahajan Roller Flour Mills, Jammu; along with Dr. Vivek Sharma, Chief Innovation Officer, IIM Jammu. Sharing lessons from their entrepreneurial journeys, the panelists emphasized that meaningful innovation begins with empathy and understanding real-world problems.
They highlighted the importance of vision, meticulous planning, consistency, perseverance, and continuous learning in building successful enterprises. Inspiring students to move beyond conventional career aspirations, the discussion reinforced IIM Jammu's strong commitment to nurturing entrepreneurs and encouraged the incoming cohort to become job creators rather than job seekers.
The orientation programme featured an engaging session by Mr. Aalap Bansal, Partner, KPMG, on building organizational resilience in an increasingly volatile global environment. Prior to the session, he was felicitated by Dr. Sarbjit Singh, Chairperson, Admissions, IIM Jammu. Drawing on global trends and industry examples, he highlighted how resilience, adaptability, and strategic foresight enable organizations to navigate uncertainty and drive sustainable growth, encouraging students to embrace continuous learning in a rapidly evolving business landscape.
The afternoon concluded with an inspiring leadership session by Mr. Anurag Sharma, Joint President – Primary & Aluminium Business, Hindalco Industries Limited, who was felicitated by Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Sikka, Co-Chairperson, Executive Education & Consultancy, IIM Jammu. Emphasizing that "Leadership is not a title; it is a behaviour," he underscored the importance of empathy, curiosity, resilience, and continuous learning, inspiring students to view leadership as a lifelong journey shaped by purposeful actions and consistent personal growth.
Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean, Faculty & Research, IIM Jammu, conducted an engaging session on "Learning Through Case Study," introducing the incoming MBA cohort to IIM Jammu's hallmark case-based pedagogy. Through real-world business scenarios and interactive discussions, he demonstrated how the case method develops critical thinking, analytical rigor, strategic decision-making, and collaborative learning by encouraging students to evaluate multiple perspectives and make informed managerial decisions.Emphasizing that management is about thoughtful judgment rather than perfect answers, he inspired students to view every case as an opportunity to bridge theory with practice, sharpen leadership skills, and prepare for the complexities of the corporate world. The session offered the incoming cohort a compelling glimpse into the intellectually stimulating and experiential
learning environment that defines management education at IIM Jammu. The orientation programme featured an insightful session by Mr. Ishwar Dutt Sharma, EVP & Head – Talent Academy, Niva Bupa Health Insurance, on the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence in healthcare and health insurance. Prior to the session, he was felicitated by Lt. Gen. (Dr.) Sunil Kant (Retd.), SM, VSM, Chairperson, MBA (Healthcare), IIM Jammu.Highlighting the industry's AI Roadmap and Vision 2030, Mr. Sharma explained how emerging technologies reshaping healthcare delivery, health insurance, and customer experience. He encouraged students to embrace innovation, build future-ready capabilities, and lead the digital transformation of the healthcare ecosystem.
The orientation programmeincluded an informative session by Dr. Prakrit Silal, Chairperson (IT), IIM Jammu, who introduced the incoming cohort to the Institute's robust IT ecosystem, the digital backbone that seamlessly supports academics, administration, and campus life. He familiarized students with the IT infrastructure, digital services, and support mechanisms available throughout their academic journey, while encouraging them to leverage technology responsibly for enhanced learning, collaboration, and innovation. The session highlighted IIM Jammu's commitment to providing a secure, connected, and technology-enabled learning environment that empowers students to become future-ready managers.
The day concluded with an engaging interaction between the incoming students and the Student Council, offering the new cohort a glimpse into IIM Jammu's vibrant, student-led culture. Through firsthand experiences, the Council introduced the diverse clubs, committees, and leadership opportunities that enrich campus life, inspiring students to actively contribute, collaborate, and make the most of their transformative journey at the Institute.
