KATHUA: The "Didi Ki Rasoi" canteen was inaugurated today at Government Degree College for Women (GDCW) marking another key step by District Administration Kathua towards empowering women and fostering their self-sufficiency.
The inauguration was held in the presence of Project Officer DUDA Jaffar Abass, and Vice Principal of the College. The canteen, managed by Women Self-Help Group (SHG) PRANVI under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM), offers a range of home-cooked meals at affordable prices.
This initiative serves two major purposes: providing a stable income for women SHG members and delivering nutritious, budget-friendly meals to college staff, students, visitors, and the public, promoting better health and well-being in the district.
The Project Officer expressed gratitude to the administration for their steadfast support and acknowledged the College for providing space to the Self-Help Group members. He noted that this marks the first installment of the "Didi Ki Rasoi" canteen initiative in Kathua under DAY-NULM and emphasized its potential to create lasting economic opportunities for women.
Aligned with the objectives of DAY-NULM, this initiative aims to uplift urban poor communities through sustainable livelihoods and empower women to achieve financial independence.
