UDHAMPUR: To raise awareness about child health and nutrition, a District-Level Healthy Baby Competition was held here today. Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai was the chief guest and inaugurated the event in the presence of District Programme Officer Poshan Subhash Chander Dogra; Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anil Manhas, Chief Education Officer, CDPOs, officials from ICDS, parents and other dignitaries.
Addressing the gathering, the DC commended the efforts of the Poshan Department in organizing the competition and emphasized the importance of early childhood nutrition. She urged mothers to prioritize breastfeeding and balanced diets for their children. The DC stressed the need for community-wide awareness to ensure proper child nutrition, fostering a healthier future generation. She highlighted that the primary objective of the competition was to promote the health and well-being of newborns and ensure adequate care for mothers.
Earlier, PO Poshan briefed the DC on various initiatives undertaken in the district in implementing the Poshan Abhiyan. He stated that the Healthy Baby Competition aimed to educate parents on early childhood care, proper nutrition and best parenting practices. The healthy baby competitions were organised throughout the District starting from panchayat level, sector level, project level and finally culminating at District level. This event encouraged mothers to adopt healthy habits for their children’s holistic development and well-being. During the event, several activities such as frog jump, singing, reciting of the poems and dancing competitions were organized for the children. Later, the DC presented gifts to all the children participants on the occasion.
