UDHAMPUR: Red Ribbon Club of Government Degree College Neeli Nallah along with IQAC and in collaboration with J&K Aids Control Society, organized varied activities to mark World AIDS Day. The activities included an awareness rally, a Poster making competition and reel making competition on the theme âTake the Right Pathsâ.
The program aimed to educate students about the causes, symptoms and prevention of HIV/AIDS. The event was conducted under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Seema Arora, Principal of the college. The rally started from the college premises amid the chanting of slogans âFight the Virus, Not the Peopleâ and âPrevention is Better than Cureâ and went around the nearby villages spreading awareness on HIV/AIDS and fighting stigma and discrimination against people living with this infection.
Addressing the rally, the Principal highlighted the importance of information and awareness campaigns to control the spread of misinformation and reduce the stigma surrounding the disease. She further stressed that the purpose of the rally was to create awareness among the local community and stakeholders about this deadly disease. Next Day, a poster making competition was also organized in which students depicted their ideas through their posters.
Madiha Mir of Semester 3rd, Palak of Semester 3rd and Dikshant of Semester 1st secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively. In reels making competition, Sunaina Rajput of Semester 1st, Simran of Semester 1st and Rinkey Verma of Semester 3rd secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively. The activities were organized by Dr. Sunil Tanoch, HOD Sociology, Convenor of Red Ribbon Club. Others present in the Week-long program were Prof. Rekha Sharma, Dr. Akhter Hussain, Dr. Zahoor Mir, Dr. Mubariq, Rajeshwar Singh Jamwal.
