JAMMU: The Indian Institute of Management Jammu (IIM Jammu) organized an online workshop on the "Official Language Policy of the Union and its Implementation" on 26th November 2024. The workshop, held under the aegis of the Official Language Office of IIM Jammu, offered participants a comprehensive understanding of the Union’s Official Language Policy and its application in various institutional and organizational settings.
Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, began the session by highlighting the commendation received by the Hindi Rajbhasha Samiti for its exemplary efforts in promoting the use of Hindi. He stressed the importance of incorporating Hindi naturally into daily life and emphasized its central role in India’s cultural identity. He encouraged everyone to take pride in the Hindi language, noting that it should be embraced wholeheartedly. He used the example of flight cabin crews and hostesses effectively communicating in both Hindi and English to illustrate the importance of fostering pride in Hindi and promoting its use alongside other global languages like English.
The session was conducted by Dr.Vichitrasen Gupta, Deputy Director (Implementation) at the Regional Implementation Office, Eastern Region, Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Official Language, Government of India. He shared his expertise on the effective implementation of the Official Language Policy, particularly focusing on its practical application within institutions and organizations.
Conducted online, the session allowed participants from diverse sectors to engage with the content. He provided a detailed overview of the Government of India's Rajbhasha policies, emphasizing the integration of Hindi into daily administrative routines and work environments. He highlighted the importance of consistent and thoughtful use of Hindi in official communication to ensure its prominence and promote its wider adoption.
The workshop saw active participation from academicians, officers, and staff, all eager to learn more about the policy and its impact on organizational functioning. Participants received valuable guidance on how to effectively incorporate the official language into their respective domains, aligning with government mandates and contributing to the promotion of Hindi and other official languages.
The workshop provided in-depth training on the Union’s Official Language Policy and its implementation. The program commenced with the introduction by Shri Ashish K Isher, Hindi Rajbhasha Adhikari, IIM Jammu and the vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Garima Kushwaha, AAO, Establishment, IIM Jammu. The event proved to be a successful learning experience for all attendees, enhancing their knowledge and providing practical strategies for the effective implementation of the Official Language Policy.
