ANANTNAG: The Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) Anantnag, in collaboration with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), organized a comprehensive Road Safety Awareness Program at Rasool Mir Auditorium, Dooru to enhance life-saving skills and raise awareness about road safety measures. The programme was attended by drivers, shopkeepers and members of the general public, including hands-on training sessions conducted by the SDRF team. Participants were educated on vital techniques such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and Basic Life Support (BLS). These skills equip individuals to recognize emergencies and provide timely assistance in life-threatening situations.
ARTO Anantnag, Dr. Showkat Bhat emphasized the importance of adopting traffic rules and fostering a culture of good Samaritanism. Whether you are a commercial driver, private vehicle owner, pedestrian, or passenger, adhering to traffic rules can lead to a significant change in road safety. Everyone must step forward in emergencies to save lives during the golden hour, without fear of legal repercussions, he stated.
Dr. Bhat also highlighted the pivotal role of first responders, calling them ‘angels for the victims’ who can make a life-saving difference. The participants praised the initiative and expressed hope for similar programs in the future to promote road safety and community well-being. This awareness drive underlines MVD Anantnag's commitment to fostering safer roads and encouraging proactive community participation in life-saving efforts.
