SHOPIAN: On the 2nd day of Revision of Panchayat Electoral Rolls, the SVEEP programmes were held at different places across the District today by the District Election Office, Shopian. The Deputy District Election Officer (Dy DEO) Shopian, along with election staff, visited the Zainapora and Chitragam Blocks and held detailed meetings with the concerned officials regarding the revision activity.

During the meetings, the detailed timelines were shared with the public and officials and it was urged upon all concerned to carry on detailed tours and household visits to ensure that no eligible voter w.r.t 01.01.2025 as qualifying date is left out. In Zainapora, the Dy DEO, Shopian met the SDM, Zainapora who expressed a deep commitment to the democratic process. The SDM assured that his office would leave no eligible voter unregistered, demonstrating full support for the revision.

Locals in Zainapora listened intently as Dy. DEO spoke about the significance of their participation. They showed keen interest in the ongoing revision and pledged to spread awareness among their communities to ensure comprehensive voter registration. The Dy. DEO continued his outreach in Chitragam, engaging with various community groups to educate them on the value of voting and the specific forms required for registration updates.

As per the schedule the draft publication has been carried out on 11.11.2024 (Monday) at all the ERO/AERO offices, blocks and Halqas. The period of filing claims and objections shall be up to 09.12.2024 (Monday) and the special camps at every panchayat headquarter on every Saturday and Sunday between 16.11.2024 (Saturday) and 01.12.2024 (Sunday).
