JAMMU: Dogra Sewa Sambhal Trust (Regd.) organised a program on 'One Nation One Election' in Ward No. 56 Gangyal of Jammu. During the program, BJP Jammu Kashmir State President Sat Sharma was the keynote speaker while former Jammu Deputy Mayor Baldev Singh Billawaria, who took this campaign forward was also present. Speaking on the occasion, BJP State President Sat Sharma said that 'One Nation One Election' is a good initiative of the Modi government, when assembly and Lok Sabha elections are held simultaneously in the country, it will be very convenient for the general public.
He said that conducting all elections simultaneously will reduce the pressure on voters and participation will increase by making the voting process more simple and predictable. He said that 'One Nation-One Election' will not only save time and money, but the development of the country and the general public will also not be affected by frequent elections. He said that conducting simultaneous elections is not a new thing, in independent India, from 1951 to 1967, general elections of all state assemblies and Lok Sabha were held simultaneously.
He said that the Bharatiya Janata Party had pledged to hold one nation-one election in its manifesto in the 1984 general elections. In his address, former Jammu Deputy Mayor Baldev Singh Billawaria, who is taking this campaign forward, said that in support of 'one nation-one election', programs are being organised in the state by discussing with various social organizations, institutions and people from major sections of the society. He said that by running public relations in every area, various sections of the society are being told about the benefits of 'one nation one election'.
He said that the reports of various social organizations, institutions and the general public are coming positive regarding the support of 'one nation one election'. Billawaria further said that in the process of one nation-one election, there has been a talk of holding Lok Sabha and Assembly elections together, while the elections of local bodies and panchayats have been kept separate. President of Dogra Sewa Sambhal Trust Rajiv Sharma said that the trust has always been working in the national interest and all the members of the trust support 'one nation one election' resolution.
