DODA: To promote road safety and responsible driving, Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Rajesh Gupta, in collaboration with the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), organized an awareness program here today at Khellani. The initiative aimed to sensitize vehicle operators, commuters, and the general public about the dangers associated with over speeding, overloading, and using mobile phones while driving. Rajesh Gupta emphasized the importance of following traffic rules to prevent accidents and ensure a safer journey for all road users.
Leading the program were Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) Robin Singh and NHIDCL representative Harjot Singh. They sensitized the gathering on the significance of adhering to the Motor Vehicles (MV) Act. The event highlighted the role of passengers in maintaining road safety, urging them to remain vigilant and report any violations they observe by vehicle operators. Such collective vigilance, they stated, could help reduce road incidents and ensure accountability on the roads.
In addition to the talks, pamphlets outlining key aspects of the MV Act and its rules were distributed to passengers. The team also conducted counseling sessions for passengers, reinforcing the importance of road safety norms and how minor precautions can prevent major mishaps. Attendees were encouraged to actively participate in fostering a culture of safety by discouraging drivers from indulging in reckless driving behaviors.
This initiative received positive responses from both drivers and passengers, with ARTO Doda underscoring the department's commitment to organizing similar programs across Doda district.
