UDHAMPUR: As per the directions of Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai and under over all guidance of District Child Protection Officer Kanika Gupta, District Child Helpline Udhampur organised an awareness programme at High School Samroli, Udhampur. The event was supported by the Child Welfare Committee and One Stop Center on multifaceted provisions related to Child and child rights.
Project Coordinator CHL Hari Krishan and Counsellor CHL Pinky Pathania, educated the children about aims and objectives of Child Helpline, They listed evil practices in the society such as Child Marriage, Child Labour & Child Abuse and asked the participants to use Child Helpline 1098 to report instances of such child abuses. The students were informed about Pre and post matric scholarships provided to SC students for their welfare.
The program also focussed on creating awareness among the students about substance abuse. The team urged students to stay away from drugs. CWC member Sushma Devi educated the students about Juvenile Justice Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, while OSC Case worker Parul Rajput acquainted the children about domestic violence against women.
The staff and students of Government High School Samroli thanked the Department for organizing such a program. At the end of the program meritorious and BPL students were felicitated under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign.
