RAJOURI: In view of the upcoming festival season, Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma today conducted a comprehensive inspection of the Rajouri town to review sanitation, infrastructure, and public amenities. He assessed the cleanliness and sanitation conditions in different areas and issued necessary directions to the Executive Officer, Municipal Council .
Taking serious note of the unsafe open manholes in some parts of the town, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the concerned officers to undertake immediate corrective measures. The issue of open waste dumping at certain locations was also addressed, with the Deputy Commissioner directing the authorities to prevent such practices and implement measures to keep the town clean.
To ease traffic congestion and enhance parking facilities, it was decided that a dedicated two-wheeler parking slot would be established near the Jal Shakti Department's Pumping Station.
During his visit to the Power Development Department (PDD) office, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with locals, who raised concerns about inflated electricity bills. Taking note of the grievances, he directed the concerned officials to ensure fair billing practices and address public complaints in a time-bound manner.
The Deputy Commissioner also inspected the Vendata Ashram Bridge site and asked the concerned authorities to pool funds for expediting work on the project. Additionally, he visited the road stretch from Workshop Bridge to Mubarak Pura, where local disputes have posed challenges. He directed the Public Works Department (PWD) to resolve the matter amicably and expedite necessary interventions.
The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Jhangir Khan; Executive Engineer Jal Shakti Ashwini Sharma; Executive Engineer PWD (R&B) Sardar Khan; Tehsildar Varinder Sharma; Executive Officer MC Yousuf Ul Mir and other concerned officers.
