KISHTWAR: In anticipation of the Karva chouth Festival, a market inspection was conducted today here in the main market area of Kishtwar Township. A joint team of officials from the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Revenue, Municipality, Food Safety Department conducted the inspection to check the quality of products, compliance with quality standards, proper labeling, and pricing regulations.

The team recovered Rs. 2000 fine from shopkeepers for overcharging. The team emphasized that ensuring fair trade practices is crucial, particularly during festive seasons when demand surges. Shopkeepers were asked to maintain the quality of goods, especially essential items commonly used during Karva chouth, such as food products, cosmetics and decorative materials. They were strictly warned against indulging in over-profiteering or selling substandard products.
