JAMMU: J&K BJP General Secretary and Convenor of the "Shree Guru Ravidas Samrasta Abhiyan," Baldev Singh Billawaria, shared that BJP has launched a nationwide campaign aimed at taking the timeless message of social harmony by Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj to every section of society while addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
Billawaria said that the Abhiyan seeks to strengthen the ideals of social harmony, equality, fraternity, and humanitarian service while fostering an inclusive and discrimination-free society. J&K BJP Media Incharge Dr. Pardeep Mahotra, and Abhiyan committee members BJP SC Morcha President Dharminder Kumar, and senior BJP leader Jeet Angral were also present in the press conference.
Addressing the media, Baldev Singh Billawaria said that Guru Ravidas Ji dedicated his life to eradicating social discrimination and inspiring humanity through the ideals of equality, dignity, and universal brotherhood. He said the Bharatiya Janata Party is committed to carrying this inspiring message to every village, town, and city through the Shree Guru Ravidas Samrasta Abhiyan, which will be conducted in multiple phases across the country.
Billawaria announced that the campaign will commence with the Shree Guru Ravidas Kalash Vandan Abhiyan from 29 July to 10 September 2026. Under this programme, sacred soil (Pawan Mitti) brought from the birthplace of Guru Ravidas Ji at Seer Govardhanpur, Varanasi, will be ceremonially welcomed and distributed across the country. Reception programmes will be organized at prominent religious places under the leadership of Members of Parliament, MLAs, Mayors, and senior party leaders. The sacred Kalash will be handed over to district units to facilitate outreach through temples and community organizations, with special participation of women, youth, and various social groups.
Billawaria further informed that the sacred soil from Varanasi will be ceremonially mixed with the soil of local temples in villages and towns during programmes featuring Samrasta Sankalp, community feasts (Bhandaras), devotional gatherings, and cultural competitions aimed at promoting social unity and harmony.
Billawaria shared that during Sant Sampark Abhiyan, district-level teams will establish continuous interaction with saints, Mahants, Gurus, Dera heads, and spiritual leaders. District-level conventions and dialogues will be organized to bring together spiritual leaders from different traditions on a common platform to promote the ideals of social justice, service to humanity, and Guru Ravidas Ji's vision of 'Begampura'—a society free from oppression, discrimination, and inequality.
Billawaria announced that the month-long Samrasta Yatra will be flagged off from Dera Sachkhand Ballan, Jalandhar, carrying a sacred golden Kalash containing holy water and soil collected from prominent rivers and pilgrimage sites across India. Passing through several states, districts, and cities, the Yatra will witness grand public receptions, Prabhat Pheris, cultural programmes, and community interactions before culminating at Guru Ravidas Ji's birthplace in Seer Govardhanpur, Varanasi, with a grand congregation and universal prayer for social harmony.
Baldev Billawaria further stated that the final phase of the campaign, will focus on reaching students in colleges, universities, coaching institutions, and hostels through lectures, discussions, literature distribution, career guidance programmes, and interactive sessions highlighting Guru Ravidas Ji's teachings on equality, social justice, and nation-building. Feedback from students regarding welfare initiatives for Scheduled Caste communities will also be collected to strengthen public outreach.
