BUDGAM: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Athar Aamir Khan, today reviewed the sanitation and cleanliness arrangements under SBM (G) and stressed the need for sustained efforts to keep rural areas clean, hygienic and free from waste.
The Deputy Commissioner directed officers to strengthen cleanliness measures across all Panchayats and ensure regular door-to-door collection of household waste. He called for proper mapping and deployment of hoppers and other sanitation resources to ensure efficient collection and transportation of waste from villages.
He stressed the importance of maintaining clean surroundings in villages and directed the concerned officers to ensure timely lifting and proper disposal of accumulated and legacy waste. He also called for greater community participation and awareness to discourage littering and promote responsible waste disposal practices.
The DC issued strict directions for protection and cleanliness of water bodies and urged the public not to dump garbage or any waste material in streams, roadsides, open spaces or other vulnerable areas.
Emphasising that cleanliness requires sustained collective efforts, he directed the concerned agencies to intensify sanitation drives and ensure regular monitoring of cleanliness in rural areas. The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Vivek Agarwal, SDMs, ACR, JD Planning, ACD, ACP, BDOs and other concerned officers.
