Awareness Programme on Disaster Preparedness held at GHSS Ashmuji

KULGAM: An awareness programme on disaster preparedness was today conducted by SDRF/HG Unit Kulgam at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Ashmuji, Kulgam, in which around 150 students participated.

During the programme, informative lectures and practical demonstrations were delivered on disaster management and mitigation, First Aid, CPR/BLS, earthquake safety and precautionary measures, fire safety, floods—their causes, effects and preventive/protective measures, and drowning incidents and their prevention.

The students were also sensitised about the importance of preparedness, timely response and basic life-saving skills during emergencies. The Principal of the Institution appreciated the initiative and emphasised the importance of conducting such informative awareness programmes for the welfare of the general public and for enhancing disaster preparedness among students and staff. The programme was conducted under the supervision of Dy.SP DAR Kulgam.

For more than 15 years at JK Monitor, he remained a loyal friend, mentor and collaborator, marked by rare humility, intellectual integrity and quiet generosity. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled. Priya, you will be deeply missed. Your life continues to remind us that knowledge finds its highest purpose in the service of others.
