GANDERBAL: As part of its sustained drive against illegal mining and unauthorized transportation of minerals, J&K Police in Ganderbal achieved another significant success by intercepting 06 more trucks carrying illegally extracted sand in the jurisdiction of Police Station Sonamarg.

Acting on reliable inputs and during routine checking, Police Station Sonamarg intercepted the vehicles transporting sand without valid authorization. The matter was immediately taken up with the Geology & Mining Department, which verified the violations and initiated legal action as per the provisions of the law. Consequently, all the 06 trucks were fined by the Geology & Mining Department for the illegal transportation of sand, while further monitoring and enforcement measures remain in place to curb such unlawful activities.

Police reiterates its firm commitment to safeguard natural resources and taking strict action against illegal mining and transportation of minerals. Such activities not only violate the law but also pose a serious threat to the environment and ecological balance.
