KATRA: In a significant step towards promoting environmental sustainability and strengthening the University's commitment to a greener campus, a plantation drive was organized today within the University premises. The event was led by the Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Pragati Kumar, accompanied by the Registrar, Finance Officer, Deans, Faculty In-charge, Heads of Schools, faculty members, officers and staff members.
The Vice Chancellor planted a Neem sapling to mark commencement of the drive and called upon the University fraternity to actively contribute towards environmental conservation. Emphasizing the importance of increasing green cover, the Vice Chancellor stated that tree plantation is not merely a symbolic activity but a collective responsibility towards ensuring a healthier and more sustainable future for generations to come.
He advised the plantation of medicinal species of plants for ecological, educational, health and conservation benefits.The Registrar, Shri Ajay Kumar Sharma emphasised upon the plantation of indigenous species of plants which are adaptable/ sustainable to the local climate, soil, topography and ecosystem of the area.
