JAMMU: Central University of Jammu (CUJ) under the patronage of Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, CU Jammu made a notable mark at the Government Achievements & Schemes Expo-2024, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi securing the first Prize in the “Providing Excellent Higher Education Category on 22 July 2024. This esteemed event saw active participation from Central Universities, IITs, IIMs, and NITs, each showcasing their remarkable achievements.

The award recognizes the Central University of Jammu's outstanding contributions and innovative approaches in the field of higher education. The university's participation in EXPO-2024 highlighted its commitment to academic excellence, research innovation, and community engagement.

Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Vice-Chancellor. Central University of Jammu, appreciated and congratulated the university community and all the stakeholders for their outstanding contributions towards this achievement and development of the University.

He stated, "This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our faculty, staff, and students. It underscores our relentless pursuit of academic and research excellence. We are immensely proud of this achievement and will continue to strive for greater heights." EXPO-2024 provided a platform for educational institutions to exhibit their accomplishments and exchange ideas for furthering educational development in India.

When he appointed me Editor-in-Chief of JK Monitor, he never treated me as an employee, but as a younger brother, offering warmth, trust, respect and invaluable guidance. I will always be grateful for his faith in me, his encouragement and the lessons he shared.

Dr. Ranjan was a rare and noble soul—humble, compassionate, intellectually brilliant and always willing to help others. A visionary thinker, he believed in using knowledge and abilities to make a meaningful difference. His influence lives on through the people he guided, the work he inspired and the countless lives he touched.

For me, he will always be the elder brother who believed in me and guided me with affection. I will cherish his kindness and lessons forever. May his soul rest in eternal peace. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

We at JK Monitor are profoundly saddened by the sudden demise of our Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan. IN LOVING MEMORY Dr Priya Ranjan

A brilliant mind who studied at Netarhat Residential School and graduated in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur before earning his PhD from the University of Maryland, Dr. Ranjan chose to return to India and dedicate his life to teaching, research and social good.

His pioneering work in networked systems, AI, robotics and biomedical applications—especially computer-vision tools for early detection of cancer and heart disease—reflected his deep belief that advanced technology must serve humanity.

For more than 15 years at JK Monitor, he remained a loyal friend, mentor and collaborator, marked by rare humility, intellectual integrity and quiet generosity. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled. Priya, you will be deeply missed. Your life continues to remind us that knowledge finds its highest purpose in the service of others.
