GUREZ: In a vibrant display of community commitment toward road safety, the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), successfully organized a large scale Road Safety Awareness Program in Sports Zone of District Bandipora on Saturday.

The initiative, executed under the supervision of Anuradha Gupta Director General of the Department and guidance of District Youth Services and Sports Officer Bandipora, sought to instill a deep sense of responsibility among youth and the public regarding safe road behavior and strict compliance with the Road Safety Act.

At the heart of the program was a spirited cycle rally that traversed from Habak Khatoon Sumoo Stand to Government Degree College Gurez. Organized in collaboration with the Zonal Education Office (ZEO) Gurez, the rally witnessed overwhelming participation from students and teaching staff alike, who pedaled with enthusiasm to amplify the message of disciplined and safe road usage.

The event was graced by distinguished guests, including the Station House Officer (SHO) Gurez and the Principal of BHSS Dawar, whose presence lent immense encouragement to the participants. In their addresses, the dignitaries lauded the concerted efforts of the DYSS and the ZEO, underscoring the critical role of such grassroots awareness initiatives in curbing road accidents and nurturing a culture of safety among the younger generation.

The program culminated with a solemn pledge, wherein participants vowed to adhere to traffic regulations and serve as ambassadors of road safety within their families and neighborhoods. The collective resolve reflected a unified vision for making Gurez’s roads safer and its citizens more conscientious.
