JAMMU: Mission Director, National Health Mission (NHM), J&K Akriti Sagar today visited Primary Health Centre Nagrota and UAAM Rehari to review the functioning of the twin health facilities and assess the delivery of healthcare services.

During the visit, the Mission Director undertook a detailed assessment of the institutions' infrastructure, patient care services and overall functioning. The functioning of both the health facilities was found to be satisfactory, with services being delivered effectively to the public.

She interacted with healthcare staff and patients, appreciating their efforts in ensuring quality service delivery at the grassroots level. She emphasised the importance of maintaining high standards of healthcare services, ensuring the availability of essential medicines and strengthening healthcare systems for improved patient outcomes.

The Mission Director also underscored the need to continue focusing on efficient service delivery, proper maintenance of health institutions and responsive healthcare mechanisms to meet public needs. The visits are part of NHM’s ongoing efforts to strengthen primary healthcare services and ensure accessible, affordable and quality healthcare for all across Jammu & Kashmir.

When he appointed me Editor-in-Chief of JK Monitor, he never treated me as an employee, but as a younger brother, offering warmth, trust, respect and invaluable guidance. I will always be grateful for his faith in me, his encouragement and the lessons he shared.

Dr. Ranjan was a rare and noble soul—humble, compassionate, intellectually brilliant and always willing to help others. A visionary thinker, he believed in using knowledge and abilities to make a meaningful difference. His influence lives on through the people he guided, the work he inspired and the countless lives he touched.

For me, he will always be the elder brother who believed in me and guided me with affection. I will cherish his kindness and lessons forever. May his soul rest in eternal peace. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

A brilliant mind who studied at Netarhat Residential School and graduated in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur before earning his PhD from the University of Maryland, Dr. Ranjan chose to return to India and dedicate his life to teaching, research and social good.

His pioneering work in networked systems, AI, robotics and biomedical applications—especially computer-vision tools for early detection of cancer and heart disease—reflected his deep belief that advanced technology must serve humanity.

For more than 15 years at JK Monitor, he remained a loyal friend, mentor and collaborator, marked by rare humility, intellectual integrity and quiet generosity. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled. Priya, you will be deeply missed. Your life continues to remind us that knowledge finds its highest purpose in the service of others.
