In loving memory of Dr. Priya Ranjan: A mentor who treated me like family

HANDWARA: In a continued effort to strengthen police-public relations, promote community policing, and intensify the fight against drug abuse under the ongoing Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan, police in Handwara organized Lok Darbar/Thana Divas at Police Station Qalamabad. The programme was conducted under the supervision of senior police officers.

During the interactive sessions, participants raised various issues relating to public safety, traffic management, drug abuse prevention, youth welfare, and other day-to-day concerns. The officers listened attentively to the grievances and assured timely and appropriate action. Several issues were resolved on the spot, while others were taken up on priority for further necessary action.

Special emphasis was laid on the objectives of Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan, with police officers sensitizing participants about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the collective responsibility of society in eradicating the menace. Citizens were urged to actively cooperate with the police by sharing information regarding drug peddling, substance abuse, and other unlawful activities affecting the social fabric of the region.

The initiative witnessed enthusiastic public participation and was widely appreciated by attendees, who expressed satisfaction over the accessibility, transparency, and responsiveness of the police.

Police reiterated its commitment to transparent, accountable, and people-friendly policing and affirmed that such outreach programmes and awareness initiatives under Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan will continue to be organized regularly to strengthen police-community partnerships and build a safer, drug-free society.
