JAMMU: Shiv Sena Hindustan organized a significant meeting at Purkhoo Camp under the leadership of Jammu & Kashmir President Pandit Rajesh Kesri, where members unanimously resolved to intensify efforts to eradicate the growing menace of drug abuse from the Union Territory.
Addressing the gathering, Pandit Rajesh Kesri emphasized that drug addiction has emerged as a serious threat to society, particularly affecting the youth, and requires a collective and sustained response. He appreciated the proactive approach of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for convening a high-level meeting involving senior police and administrative officials to tackle the issue.
Kesri stated that the initiative reflects the seriousness and commitment of the administration in curbing drug abuse. He noted that while several steps have been taken earlier, the recent meeting marks a decisive and commendable effort in the fight against narcotics, which has been widely appreciated by Shiv Sena Hindustan.
During the meeting, various members shared their concerns and suggestions regarding the increasing spread of drugs, especially in border areas and identified “chitta hotspots.” Kesri assured them that Shiv Sena Hindustan would actively collaborate with the administration to conduct awareness drives and outreach programs in vulnerable areas. He further said that the organization would also engage with parents, urging them to closely monitor their children and guide them away from harmful influences.
Highlighting the importance of early awareness, the organization put forth two key demands before the government. Firstly, it urged the inclusion of a dedicated subject in schools, starting from Class 6, under physical education to educate students about the dangers and long-term consequences of drug abuse. Kesri stressed that early education is crucial as today’s children are the future leaders of the nation, and their physical and mental well-being must be safeguarded.
Secondly, Shiv Sena Hindustan demanded that the government expedite the process of issuing ration cards to economically weaker sections in Jammu & Kashmir. The organization appealed to the concerned departments to ensure that eligible families living below the poverty line receive their rightful benefits without delay.
The meeting witnessed the presence of several prominent members, including State Vice Chairman Raj Kumar, Balbir Kumar, Border President Sanjeev Sharma, Rajesh Kumar, Saurabh Sharma, Mewa Ram, Vicky Kumar, Sanjay Kumar, Tarsem Kumar, Anu Devi, Darshan Devi, Seema Kumari, Anu Sharma, Mohini Sharma, along with a large number of local residents.The event concluded with a strong resolve to work collectively with authorities and society at large to build a drug-free and healthier Jammu & Kashmir.
